Law (J.D.) Graduate Pathway
Saint Louis University's Law (J.D.) Graduate Pathway Program prepares students to enter the next semester of the Juris Doctor (J.D.) for Foreign Lawyers degree program. Upon successfully completing the graduate pathway program and meeting the University's requirements for matriculation, students may enter the next semester of graduate study.
Program Entry Requirements
Two-Semester (Standard) Pathway
- First degree in law adequate for bar qualification in home country (L.L.B. or equivalent)
- 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale
- Current résumé
- Statement of purpose
- Character and fitness questionnaire
- Two letters of recommendation
- Language requirement (one of the following):
- TOEFL iBT 90
- IELTS 7.0
- PTEA 60
- Completion of AE Level 5
- Duolingo 115
- Students will be able to execute a variety of verbal tasks in academic settings using English that can be understood by those unaccustomed to non-native speakers.
- Students will be able to execute a variety of written tasks in academic settings using English that can be understood by those unaccustomed to non-native writers.
- Students will be able to apply a process-driven approach to completing verbal and written academic assignments in multiple disciplines and modes.
- Students will be able to deploy reflective and self-regulated learning strategies.

Continuation Standards
- Minimum of 3.0 cumulative SLU GPA
- Grade of "B" or better in Introduction to U.S. Law course
- No C-/D/F/W/I/P/NP/S/U grades
Progression Requirements
- Minimum of 3.0 cumulative SLU GPA
- Grade of "B" or better in Introduction to U.S. Law course
- No C-/D/F/W/I/P/NP/S/U grades
- LSAT score of 152 or above
- Complete LSAC Credential Assembly Service (CAS) file required
- SLU LAW J.D. application
- Successful completion of Program Portfolio
Roadmaps are recommended semester-by-semester plans of study for programs and assume full-time enrollment unless otherwise noted.
Courses and milestones designated as critical (marked with !) must be completed in the semester listed to ensure a timely graduation. Transfer credit may change the roadmap.
This roadmap should not be used in the place of regular academic advising appointments. All students are encouraged to meet with their advisor/mentor each semester. Requirements, course availability and sequencing are subject to change.
