Students must meet the admission requirements and be admitted into both degree programs according to the processes of each of the participating academic units in order to pursue a dual degree program.
Applicants are required to be initially accepted to the clinical psychology program. Students must then apply for and fulfill all admission requirements for the M.S.P.H.BSHE degree program in order to gain admission to the dual degree program.
This integrated program requires completion of Ph.D. requirements as well as the fulfillment of a complete M.S.P.H.BSHE degree (36 credits), which includes 12 credits of coursework from the College of Arts and Sciences Clinical Psychology Ph.D. degree requirements.
PSY 5790 Applied Univariate Statistics in Behavioral Science (3 cr) may substitute for PUBH 5040 Generating Evidence from Public Health Data (3 cr). Other options (SOC 6100 Regression Analysis & Non-linear Models (3 cr) and PSY 6600 Structural Equations Modeling (3 cr))require approval by both advisors.
PSY 6500 Applied Multivariable and Multivariate Statistics in Behavioral Science (3 cr) may substitute for BST 5100 Introduction to General Linear Modeling (3 cr). Other options (SOC 6100 Regression Analysis & Non-linear Models (3 cr); and PSY 6600 Structural Equations Modeling (3 cr)) require approval by both advisors.
PSY 5080 Advanced Quantitative Research Methods (3 cr) substitutes for 3 credits of advisor-approved Methods Electives.
PSY 6800 Ethics, Supervision, and Consultation (1-3 cr) substitutes for HCE 5020 Ethical Issues in Public Health (1,2 cr).
A public health focus of the dissertation for the PhD in Psychology (PSY 6990 Dissertation Research) satisfies the requirement for PUBH 5990 Research Project (0-2 cr). The credits earned from PSY 6990 Dissertation Research are not used to reduce the number of minimum total credits for the MSPH-BSHE degree.
Students must maintain a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.00 in all graduate/professional courses.
Roadmaps are recommended semester-by-semester plans of study for programs and assume full-time enrollment unless otherwise noted.
Courses and milestones designated as critical (marked with !) must be completed in the semester listed to ensure a timely graduation. Transfer credit may change the roadmap.
This roadmap should not be used in the place of regular academic advising appointments. All students are encouraged to meet with their advisor/mentor each semester. Requirements, course availability and sequencing are subject to change.
