The public health program is designed to give students the practical skills needed for any public health career. Graduate-level public health classes are taught by faculty who are internationally recognized as leaders in public health research and practice, and have diverse research interests.
Saint Louis University's Master of Social Work (M.S.W.) and Master of Public Health (M.P.H.) is a dual degree program in the College for Public Health and Social Justice, which is accredited by the Council on Education for Public Health.
This integrated program requires completion of both the M.S.W. and M.P.H. degree requirements.
Concentrations are part of each program, including clinical and community and organization concentrations within the M.S.W. and a public health practice concentration within the M.P.H.

Students must meet the admission requirements and be admitted into both degree programs according to the processes of each of the participating academic units in order to pursue a dual degree program.
Individuals may apply to the M.P.H. degree program concurrently with application to the School of Social Work or following their admission to the School of Social Work; however, admission to the dual degree program is contingent upon admission to both the M.P.H. and the M.S.W. degree programs.
SWRK 5820 Integrative Practice Seminar (1 cr), SWRK 5832 Community & Organization Practicum I (2 cr), and SWRK 5833 Community & Organization Practicum II (3 cr) satisfy the MPH Practice Experience CEPH core requirement PUBH 5910 Practice Experience in Public Health (0,3 cr) if approved by the MPH practice experience advisor. 320 total minimum hours required for the MPH Practice Experience.
HMP 5720 Government Financing of Health Care (3 cr) is a substitution for SWRK 5707 Policy Practice for Social Justice (3 cr).
Students must maintain a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.00 in all graduate/professional courses.
Roadmaps are recommended semester-by-semester plans of study for programs and assume full-time enrollment unless otherwise noted.
Courses and milestones designated as critical (marked with !) must be completed in the semester listed to ensure a timely graduation. Transfer credit may change the roadmap.
