The course consists of 6 discussion-based meetings presented by 6 different SLU faculty members. The purpose of the course is to explore and engage in depth varying topics in health care ethics not covered in the standard ethics curriculum. Students will read and prepare to discuss the assigned readings on the given topic. Questions that could be discussed include: What is the relationship between religion and medicine? How do we address medical mistakes and difficult patients? How do we approach the difficult issues in pediatric ethics? How should we think about social justice and diversity in medicine? How do we approach the issue of physician-assisted and euthanasia?.

MELC 0109 - Understanding Artificial Intelligence and Genomics for Precision Medicine

The course will cover clinically relevant aspects of big data / AI and genomics for precision medicine.
