Music, Minor
Saint Louis University's minor in music allows students to continue their study of music while pursuing other academic interests. The music minor is complementary to and compatible with most majors.
Some students choose this minor because music has an indirect connection to their chosen career path. Other students enjoy the opportunity to increase their theoretical and historical knowledge while performing with other students in the music program.
Small classes in courses required for the minor ensure that students work closely with the full-time faculty and receive individualized attention. The music faculty at Saint Louis University is comprised of active performers, composers and scholars who are active in the St. Louis area. The music faculty includes members of the Saint Louis Symphony Orchestra and active freelance performers who work in a variety of styles, from classical art music to jazz and musical theatre.
An audition is not required to declare the music minor. However, it is expected that prospective students have some previous experience studying and performing music before entering the music program.
