This course focuses on intelligence collection, production, and analysis and provides an in-depth overview of the U.S. Intelligence Community (IC). It explores the authorities under which the IC operates, its role in informing U.S. national security and foreign policy, and its role in implementing policy decisions.

INTL 5050 - Terrorism & US Foreign Policy

This course focuses on the changing face of terrorism, from a global endeavor to garner support for a cause to small cells bent on causing harm. This course explores terrorism as a global phenomenon and its effect on US Foreign Policy. In addition, the course will emphasize various options and constraints used to prevent and defeat terrorists.

INTL 5100 - Counter Intelligence & Espionage

This course allows students to explore classic examples of intelligence gathering and espionage. Beginning with ancient examples and working through the Middle Ages, the course notes advances to the profession through modern times. The course encourages students to consider how historical forms of intelligence and espionage have influenced current practices.

INTL 5200 - Cyber Operations and National Security

This course examines the relationship between technology and national security. Major issues discussed in the course include cyber security, hacking, data integrity, and the role of government in offensive and defensive cyber operations. The course will encourage students to integrate and examine in depth the impact of technology on traditional intelligence efforts.

INTL 5250 - Structured Analytical Techniques for Intelligence

This course exposes students to a wide range of structured analytic techniques used in intelligence analysis and security. The course uses structured analysis as a methodological approach to security and intelligence issues, distinct from quantitative and qualitative methods using empirical data. The course allows students to learn and practice structured analytic techniques and apply the methods to various case studies.

INTL 5260 - Military Intelligence

This course exposes students to the four levels of strategy in a national security context. Students will examine the use of intelligence in the warning of, preparation for, and conduct of war. The course will then focus primarily on military strategy. Students will critically examine topics including civil-military relations, land warfare, naval warfare, theories of airpower, insurgency and counterinsurgency, and nuclear strategy as related to intelligence.

INTL 5270 - Open Source Intelligence

This course provides and examination of the various unclassified materials including: news services, data bases, government documents, newspapers, journals, magazines, social media, radio and TV sources, short-wave broadcasts, internet, indexes, and materials from various organizations. Students will find, extract and exploit information that is readily available through open sources. Students will understand how to integrate open source intelligence into finished intelligence.

INTL 5280 - Congress and the Intelligence Community

This course This will examine the interplay between the laws, practices and policies of the United States Intelligence Community and how they are influenced by the US Congress. While discussion of the history of intelligence activities with congress and laws dating from the origins of our colonial days will necessarily shape the framework of the class, the focus shall particularly be on current debates and challenges faced by the United States Congress and its role in Intelligence and National Security in the 21st Century.

INTL 5910 - Internship Experience in Strategic Intelligence

Credit(s): 1-3 Credits

This course provides students with an opportunity to complete an internship that requires them to apply the concepts and skills learned in their specific program of study. Prior to registration, students intending to complete this course are expected to have a formal letter from the organization providing details of the work expected from the student during the 8-weeks that constitute the length of the internship. The letter must be signed by an individual with appropriate authority from the organization sponsoring the internship. In addition, the internship is subject to approval by the program director who will assess the alignment between.

INTL 5961 - Intel Masters Research Project I

INTL 5962 - Intel Masters Research Project II

The Master's Research Project (MRP) emphasizes a synthesis and demonstration of the competencies gained during a student’s time in the MS Strategic Intelligence program. This is the second course in a three-part sequence of courses. At the end of this credit hour, students will have created an applied research design that includes a proposal for addressing the organizational problem that was identified and described in INTL 5961.

INTL 5963 - Intel Masters Research Project III

Credit(s): 1 Credit

The Master's Research Project (MRP) emphasizes a synthesis and demonstration of the competencies gained during a student’s time in the MS Strategic Intelligence program. This is the third course in a three-part sequence of courses. At the end of this credit hour, students will have implemented an applied research project to address an organizational or societal problem, written a formal report of findings and recommendations, and produced a reflection of their experiences and its implications for their future.
