Theatre Design, Microcredential

The Theatre Design Microcredential consists of 6 required credit hours. Satisfactory completion of the required courses would allow the student to achieve beginning-to-intermediate knowledge and skill in the fundamental aspects of theatre design: scenic, costume, lighting, projection and sound. 

Admission Requirements

For current, active Saint Louis University students wishing to declare a microcredential, complete the Update for Student Curriculum Record form

For non-Saint Louis University students, click here to apply as a Visiting/Non-Degree Seeking Student. 

The student will demonstrate:

  • Ability to conceptualize the world and style of the play;
  • Beginning-to-intermediate skills in textual analysis;
  • Ability to communicate and collaborate with the design team including directors and actors; and
  • Beginning-to-intermediate understanding of fundamental design principles (e.g., line, shape, mass, color, rhythm, etc.).

Grade of “C” or better in each required course (per the Microcredential Policy).

Students who do not achieve the “C” or better grade in a required course will be expected to repeat the course in an attempt to achieve the “C” or better grade. Students may repeat a required course one time. Failure to achieve the “C” or better grade after one repeat attempt will be dismissed from the Microcredential.
