Catalog of Record

Students must follow the graduation requirements outlined in the Academic Catalog of the year for which they are formally admitted or readmitted as certificate- or degree-seeking students. The outlined requirements are referred to as students’ “catalog of record.”

However, students in programs that only admit students in the summer semester will follow the graduation requirements outlined in the Academic Catalog of the academic year immediately after they are formally admitted as certificate- or degree-seeking students.

Additionally, students must follow the requirements outlined in the Academic Catalog of the year in which they declare majors or minors and thus students may be required to follow requirements outlined in different Academic Catalogs.

If students defer their admission, their “catalog of record” is adjusted to the Academic Catalog of the year to which their admission is deferred.

The graduation requirements listed in an academic catalog are valid for six (6) academic years for students in undergraduate programs and eight (8) academic years for students in graduate/professional programs, after which they are considered expired.

Students may petition*, through the Office of the University Registrar, to follow the requirements of any non-expired Academic Catalog later than their initial “catalog of record”.

Readmitted students may petition* to follow the requirements of any non-expired Academic Catalog.

Students participating in a 2+SLU program may elect to follow the requirements of an Academic Catalog no older than three years prior to their formal admission to Saint Louis University and no older than when they were formally admitted to their previous institution as long as they have been continuously enrolled at their prior institution.

Undergraduate students whose “catalog of record” is prior to academic year 2022-2023 must follow the requirements of their primary college/school core in their “catalog of record”.

Students participating in an accelerated bachelors to graduate program may elect to follow the graduate program requirements of the Academic Catalog of when they begin graduate coursework at Saint Louis University as long as they have been continuously enrolled.

* Petitions will be evaluated by the applicable academic unit in consultation with the Office of the University Registrar.
