Academic English Program
Saint Louis University's Academic English Program provides students with first-rate English language instruction and the necessary academic skills to succeed in college.
In each level, students study reading and vocabulary, writing and grammar, and listening and speaking skills. Students in intermediate levels also take English Through Service (AEP 0350) and content classes. English Through Service takes students out of the classroom to develop language skills in authentic contexts by volunteering in the community. Content classes address topics like American history and culture, human geography, and intercultural communication, which encourage students to apply their language skills in academic contexts.

- Write academic papers using citations and references
- Read, understand and evaluate academic texts
- Understand and use vocabulary common to academic disciplines
- Take accurate notes in academic settings
- Understand U.S. values in an academic setting
