Policies and Procedures
Students must become familiar with the regulations in the Academic Catalog and those within the college, school, center, department and program in which they are enrolled.
Students must accept responsibility for compliance with these regulations and for the consequences associated with noncompliance.
While a student may follow the graduation requirements of the semester under which they enter the University, the general policies in the latest edition of the Academic Catalog apply to all students.
The University reserves the right to modify policies at any time to conform to changes in professional practice.
All SLU academic policies – at the program, department, college/school, and University levels – must be designed in full compliance with all applicable regulations of the following governing bodies:
• U.S. Department of Education
• State board of higher education (or equivalent body) of any U.S. State and Territory in which SLU operates
• National ministry of higher education (or equivalent body) of any country in which SLU operates
• Higher Learning Commission
Additionally, beyond minimal compliance as stipulated above, all SLU policies shall be written to ensure the maximum amount of state and federal financial aid eligibility for students to the extent consistent with the mission and objectives of the university.
Saint Louis University is obligated by its accreditors and the U.S. Department of Education to engage in multiple continuous quality improvement and assessment initiatives. Accordingly, and in full compliance with federal and institutional IRB and FERPA policies, all student work submitted to fulfill any SLU course or related academic requirement is subject to review by faculty and related academic professionals to assess student learning and to inform the improvement of the University’s curricula, pedagogy, academic programs and related support programs. Students’ work and data (including grades, when necessary) will be used to assess program effectiveness. SLU will protect student confidentiality throughout these assessment activities.
