Graduation (Latin) Honors

Final determination of honors and cumulative grade point averages will be made at the time of degree conferral.

Note: For the purpose of complying with timelines for commencement and related publications, tentative honors may be published and calculated based on the cumulative grade point average at the end of the previously completed term.

Undergraduate

Undergraduate students must complete 45 earned credits at Saint Louis University, including through the 1818 Advanced College Credit program or a SLU-approved exchange/study abroad program, in order to be eligible to graduate with honors.

Graduation (Latin) honors will be awarded according to an undergraduate student’s Saint Louis University cumulative Grade Point Average as follows:

Honors GPA
Summa cum laude 3.90 and greater
Magna cum laude 3.70 and greater, but less than 3.90
Cum laude 3.50 and greater, but less than 3.70

School of Law

Graduation (Latin) honors will be awarded according to a law student’s cumulative Grade Point Average as follows:

Honors GPA
Summa cum laude 3.80 and greater
Magna cum laude 3.50 and greater, but less than 3.80
Cum laude 3.30 and greater, but less than 3.50
