PDED 5000 - Introduction to Pediatric Dentistry

2 Credits

This course is designed to introduce new residents to the specialty of pediatric dentistry. It includes an in-depth review of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry Guidelines as well as lectures and discussions on topics in pediatric dentistry including prevention, dental materials, pulp therapy, sedation and trauma.

Restrictions:

Enrollment limited to students in the MS Dentistry, Pediatric Dentis program.

PDED 5200 - Pediatric Dentistry Literature Review

1 Credit (Repeatable for credit)

A review of classical literature recommended by the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry and current articles recommended by the program director. Residents will evaluate the value of the articles, discuss the findings, and gauge the impact on clinical practice in the context of evidence-based dentistry.

Restrictions:

Enrollment is limited to students with a concentration in Pediatric Dentistry.

PDED 5600 - Clinical Pediatric Dentistry I

PDED 5800 - Principles of Orthodontics

1 Credit (Repeatable up to 4 credits)

This course will discuss the principles of orthodontic diagnosis and treatment. The course is designed for pediatric dentists and will focus on the primary and mixed dentitions.

Restrictions:

Enrollment limited to students in the Center for Advanced Dental Ed college.

PDED 5910 - Pediatric Dentistry Seminar

0-1 Credits (Repeatable for credit)

Comprehensive review of pediatric dentistry topics, including: prevention, behavior management, caries/restorative dentistry, specialized patient care, pharmacology, sedation, trauma, pathology, facial growth and development, and management of the developing occlusion. Residents will gain a solid foundation in the principles of pediatric dentistry for the board examination and the practice of pediatric dentistry. (Offered each semester)
